You enter my space. You pay for my time. And then you discover something: my attention was never included. For the entire session, I simply live my life as if you were not there. I work, answer messages, check my phone, drink my coffee, fix my makeup or choose my next outfit. You are present. I know you are there. But you receive nothing from me. No conversation. No entertainment. No attempts to impress you. No permission to interrupt me or demand my attention. Your only role is to remain where I place you and experience what it feels like to be completely irrelevant in my presence. Some people need attention.
